Homewood Grant Competition

Urban Innovation21 and its public-private partners are pleased to announce the Small Business Grant Competition, which aims to assist a wide range of entrepreneurs who reside and/or operate a small for profit business in Homewood. This competition is open to businesses in the startup stage and also to established businesses.

Urban Innovation21 will grant up to $100,000 through this competition accordingly:

$40,000 for businesses located in the Homewood Innovation Zone*

  • $20,000 – businesses planning to locate in the 1st floor of the Homewood Station Senior High Rise at 524 N. Homewood Avenue.
  • $20,000 – businesses throughout the zone

$60,000 for businesses located throughout Homewood

  • $5,000 – $10,000
  • $2,500 – $5,000
  • Less than $2,500
  • Up to 10 Match Awards of $500 toward a no interest micro-loan from Kiva Zip of up to $5,000.  
  • Two technical support awards to raise funds through a crowd funding platform will be awarded.

 

Entrepreneurs must reside and/or operate their for profit business in Homewood.  Stronger consideration will be given to businesses located in Homewood and owned by residents of Homewood; Multi-level marketing businesses will not be considered; All businesses will be required to provide an entrepreneur profile, a business summary and business plan. Free technical assistance will be available to complete these requirements.
